Buying a shower enclosure in Poland: a guide
Where to buy, what the Polish sizes and labels mean, what a fitter expects you to have ready and what the work should cost. Written for people who moved to Poland.
Where to buy
Most people in Poznań buy their enclosure at one of the big DIY stores: Leroy Merlin (own brand Sensea; stores include Komorniki, ul. Głogowska 436, and a large one on ul. Serbska), Castorama (own brand GoodHome; Murawa 39 and ul. Konopackiej 20 in Komorniki) or OBI (Franowo, ul. Szwedzka 6). All of them also sell online. Specialist bathroom showrooms offer better enclosures and advice at a higher price.
Be aware that most enclosures listed on the stores’ websites are now sold by third-party sellers. On castorama.pl, only around 150 of nearly 10,000 listings in the category are sold by Castorama itself. Third-party items can take weeks to arrive and returns go through the seller, not the store.

Sizes
Polish enclosures are sold in centimetres: 80 x 80 and 90 x 90 are the most common. Measure your tray on its outer edge before buying, because some manufacturers quote nominal sizes that are slightly larger than the real footprint.
What the fitter expects to be ready
- the enclosure in unopened boxes, so the parts can be checked together,
- the tray already fitted and connected (unless you order a replacement with a tray),
- grout dry for at least 24 hours,
- somewhere to lay out the glass panels, usually the hallway.
What it should cost
In the Poznań area, labour for fitting an enclosure on an existing tray starts at around 720 PLN gross. A full replacement is 1170–1560 PLN. See my pricing. VAT on labour in residential buildings is 8%, and prices are quoted gross.
